The partnership between Gica Popescu Hotels and Marriott International regarding the opening in Bucharest of the first Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Romania, was signed Friday, April 27, 2012.
With this new partnership signed, Gica Popescu Hotels has received the official approval to construct, develop and operate the first Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Romania. The hotel will bear the name Courtyard Marriott Bucharest Hotel and will be located in the center of the city, close to the main business areas and with easy access to the international airport.
The official signing ceremony was hosted by the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel. The event was attended by Mr. John Litzenberger, Vicepresident Marriott International Lodging Development Europe and by Mr. Gheorghe Popescu, the President of Gica Popescu Hotels.
The opening of a new Marriott brand hotel in Romania represents for us a turning into reality of our mission to present to our guests the largest high-class services offer at Marriott standards. We already have a success story in Romania with JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel and I am sure that we can repeat that for the new Courtyard Marriott as well. The official documents signing ceremony was also attended by representatives of Trend Hospitality, consultants of Gica Popescu Hotels for the Courtyard Marriott Bucharest Hotel project and the architecture bureau, Architect Service, the hotel planner.
Courtyard Marriott Bucharest Hotel is an investement of approximately 20 Mil. EUR of Gica Popescu Hotels, being the first project developed in partnership with an international hotel group. The newest Marriott brand hotel in Bucharest will be classified as 4 stars, with a capacity of 146 rooms. Its future clients will benefit from 4 conference rooms with a total surface of approximately 500 sqm, restaurant, bar SPA and commercial faciilities. The architecture of the hotel in Bucharest will be in line with the new inovative design concept used by Marriott for the Courtyard brand. The construction works will begin in July 2012 and will be finalized after 18 months.
